The KVK at Banavasi, Yemmiganur mandal in Kurnool district was established on 31.10.2010 with Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University by the ICAR. K.V.K. is at a distance of 75 KM from the district head quarters, 7 KM away from Yemmiganur a place famous for weavers and 21 KM away from a pilgrim place Mantralayam famous for lord Ragavendra Swamy. It is stationed on the road way of Kurnool - Adoni. The industrialist Padmashri Machani Somappa and MG brothers who were the founders of Yemmiganur Weavers Co-Operative Society (YWCS) are native to this place.
The K.V.K. is an Institutional project of ICAR to demonstrate the application of Science and Technology input of Agricultural research on farmers’ fields and education in rural areas with the help of multi-disciplinary team of scientists. The Agricultural technology is transferred through imparting vocational training to the farmers, farmwomen, rural youth and grass root level extension workers with the broad based agricultural production approach.
